Expert Care for Complex Heart Artery Blockages
The CHIP Program helps patients with complex coronary artery disease and severe heart artery blockages. Our team of heart specialists reviews each case to recommend the safest and most effective treatment, so patients can get expert care without delay.
How We Can Help
Severe Coronary Artery Disease
Blocked or narrowed heart arteries can reduce blood flow and increase the risk of heart attack. Our specialists evaluate complex cases and create personalized treatment plans.
High-Risk Heart Conditions
Some patients are not good candidates for standard procedures or surgery. Our multidisciplinary Heart Team works together to identify the best treatment option for each patient.
Treatment Options
Angioplasty (PCI)
A balloon opens the blocked artery, and a stent helps keep it open.
Protected PCI
For patients at higher risk, a temporary heart pump supports blood flow during treatment.
Heart Surgery
Some patients may benefit from bypass surgery to restore blood flow to the heart.
Medication Management
Medications may be used to manage symptoms and support heart health.
Why Choose the CHIP Program?
The CHIP Program brings together interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, heart failure specialists, and other experts to review complex cases. This team-based approach helps patients receive faster decisions, access to advanced treatments, and coordinated care close to home.
Since 2018, the program has helped improve outcomes for patients with complex, high-risk coronary artery disease across Hartford HealthCare.
